Seattle, Washington – Seattle police took a known drug dealer into custody Thursday afternoon in the Chinatown–International District after a brief foot chase that was captured by police surveillance systems and aided by real-time analysis.

Officers were conducting a narcotics surveillance operation near the intersection of 12th Avenue South and South Jackson Street when they spotted a man already familiar to law enforcement.

According to Seattle Police Department, the suspect had multiple outstanding felony warrants, including a Department of Corrections warrant for second-degree assault, a $30,075 warrant tied to dangerous drugs, and an additional warrant for obstructing a law enforcement officer.

Once the man was identified, officers coordinated with the department’s Real Time Crime Center to track his movements. Analysts located the suspect and provided a current image to officers as arrest teams moved toward his position in the busy neighborhood.

When officers approached, the suspect fled on foot. During the chase, police say he threw cash into the street and discarded his jacket in an apparent attempt to distance himself from evidence. The chase was short, and officers quickly caught up to him and placed him under arrest without further incident.

After securing the suspect, officers retraced his path. They recovered the jacket and the cash that had been tossed aside during the pursuit. Inside the jacket, officers found fentanyl. Additional fentanyl was later discovered during a search of the suspect’s pockets, police said.

Investigators identified the man as a previously convicted violent felon who is currently under Department of Corrections supervision. As a condition of his release, he is prohibited from engaging in any criminal activity. Police noted that the new arrest represents a clear violation of those conditions.

The arrest highlights ongoing enforcement efforts in the Chinatown–International District, an area that has seen increased police attention due to persistent drug activity. Authorities say coordinated operations involving patrol officers, narcotics units, and real-time analysts are aimed at disrupting open-air drug sales and removing repeat offenders from the streets.
