Fairview Bridge opening delayed until Summer

Wouldn’t you know it. As soon as The Eastlake News comes out with an update on the Fairview Avenue Bridge project, the Seattle Department of Transportation comes up with a major update.

The Department said Monday:

“Due to COVID-19-related material-delivery delays, location and space constraints limiting work acceleration, and other unforeseen construction challenges, project completion has shifted from spring 2021 to summer 2021.”

Maybe the pandemic will be much less by summer and we can have a community-wide celebration of the completion of this major project.  Over the past few weeks, the project has reached two major milestones – the completion of the bridge deck and removal of the construction cranes from the project site.

More detail and some cool photos are at the project blog.
