An 11-year-old Seattle child was arrested for participating in an attempted stabbing at Alderwood Middle School

Seattle, Washington – After his father turned him over to the authorities, an 11-year-old Seattle child was arrested for participating in an attempted stabbing at Alderwood Middle School. Although it started on a relatively normal Friday afternoon, the event soon developed into a potentially dangerous one.

The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office reported that the boy, no longer an Edmonds School District student, entered the campus about 1:30 p.m. and tried to stab another student with a sharp object. The fast action of a quick-thinking teacher prevented what may have been an awful outcome since the teacher was able to react in time to stop causing harm to the student concerned.

After the attempt, the young child ran away from the site, setting off a hunt that ended on Sunday when one of his parents made the final decision to report him to police. The parent’s decision caused the child’s booking into the Denney Juvenile Justice Center, where he stayed while facing the results of his actions.

Thanks to the quick and courageous efforts of the teacher who intervened, the school community expressed relief that the event did not cause any physical harm to staff or students.

“Thanks to the quick and courageous actions of a staff member who witnessed the incident and immediately intervened, no students were injured,” school representatives stated.

Alderwood’s principal released a statement reiterating the school’s dedication to student safety.

“We understand that incidents like this are deeply concerning, and we are grateful for the swift response by our staff and local law enforcement,” Alderwood’s principal said in a release. “The safety and well-being of our students remain our highest priority.”
