A virtual tour of Patti Warashina’s artistic career

Patti Warashina, long-time Eastlake resident and renowned ceramics artist, was honored for her lifetime achievement earlier this year in Washington D.C. as a 2020 Smithsonian Visionary Artist.

Highlighting the Smithsonian honor, the University of Washington Magazine featured their alum and Professor Emerita on the cover of their spring edition. The teaser inside story encourages readers to go to their website and view “The Wonder of Warashina,” where you’ll get a wonderful, virtual tour of her studio along with images of her work and the story of her remarkable life — including how she feels about getting older (“I’m still learning!”) and how an untapped passion for art surfaces to derail her original dental hygienist career track.

“Now 80,” writes the UW, “Warashina, ‘62, ’64, continues to create satirical and humorous figurative sculptures that explore the absurdity and foibles of human nature, as well as feminism and other political and social topics.”

Take the tour!
