Seattle police investigate Alki Beach shooting after wounded man walks into Harborview Medical Center
Seattle, Washington – Seattle police detectives are investigating a shooting incident that came to light after an injured man arrived at a hospital seeking urgent medical help early Saturday morning.
The situation began unfolding at approximately 3:40 a.m. on March 7, when officers were called to Harborview Medical Center following reports that a gunshot victim had walked into the facility. When officers arrived, they encountered a 24-year-old man who had suffered a gunshot wound to the abdomen. Hospital staff quickly moved the victim into surgery in an effort to stabilize his condition.
Due to the severity of his injuries, officers were unable to speak with the man at the time. Authorities said he remains hospitalized in serious but stable condition while receiving medical care.
As police began gathering information at the hospital, they located a silver Dodge vehicle that had transported the injured man to the emergency department. Officers conducted a traffic stop involving the vehicle and spoke with the two people inside, identified as a 22-year-old man and a 24-year-old man. Both individuals told officers they had driven the victim to the hospital after the shooting.
According to their account, the incident took place near the intersection of Alki Avenue Southwest and 57th Avenue Southwest. The men explained that they had been attending a gathering where alcohol was being consumed when the situation suddenly escalated. They reported that an unknown suspect approached the victim and fired a shot, striking him in the abdomen.
After the shooting, the two men said they placed the wounded victim into their vehicle and rushed him to Harborview Medical Center for treatment. The suspect fled the scene immediately after the gunfire, leaving the area in a white car and traveling in an unknown direction.
Police said the two witnesses did not recognize the shooter and indicated that the suspect was not known to them.
Officers from the Southwest Precinct later responded to the area around Alki Beach to locate the scene of the shooting. Investigators were able to identify the location and began collecting evidence from the area as part of the ongoing case.
Detectives assigned to the Seattle Police Department’s Gun Violence Reduction Unit are now leading the investigation. Authorities continue to review evidence and gather information related to the incident as they work to determine the circumstances that led to the shooting.
The case remains active under incident number 2026-63655 and involves coordination between officers from both the Southwest and East precincts. Police have not announced any arrests in connection with the incident as the investigation continues.
