Seattle, Washington – A late-night shooting earlier this week in Seattle’s Pioneer Square area left a young security guard seriously hurt, prompting an active investigation by local detectives.

Police said emergency calls reporting gunfire in the 800 block of Western Avenue came in at 10:56 p.m. Wednesday. When officers reached the scene, they found a 21-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the groin. Officers immediately began providing first aid until paramedics from the Seattle Fire Department arrived.

Medics transported the injured man to Harborview Medical Center, where he was listed in serious but stable condition. Authorities have not released his name.

According to witness accounts, the violence followed an altercation moments before shots were fired. Several people—believed to be two or three individuals—were seen running from the area on foot shortly after the shooting. No arrests had been made as of the latest update.

The case is now being handled by detectives assigned to the department’s Gun Violence Reduction Unit, who are working to determine what led up to the confrontation and identify those responsible. Investigators continue to gather evidence and speak with potential witnesses.

Police are urging anyone who may have information about the incident to come forward. Tips can be shared with the Seattle Police Department’s Violent Crimes Tip Line at (206) 233-5000.
